Pricing. The forever elephant in the room when we’re talking about purchases across the board, but particularly furniture and renovations. We all work hard for our money and want to feel confident that we are spending it well. Unfortunately, there is a lot of less-than-great quality furniture out there. We’ve been in the industry for over 15 years collectively and we know what to look out for. We’ll get into the weeds about what traits you should look for, what to ask when you’re shopping, and why some pieces are priced higher than others.
First, let’s talk about the components. The biggest factors for longevity will be the spring system, foam grade, and frame construction. These are all the most typical areas to fail with low quality pieces. The foam is often first to go. If it is low grade foam, it won’t hold it’s shape over time and it will sag in the first one to five years of consistent use. Our furniture is made with Qualux foam which is high-resiliency and fire-rated with a unique cell structure that is crafted to bounce back better than any polyurethane foam. The standard cushion is backed by a lifetime warranty so you are guaranteed decades with your sofa.
Springs & Frames
The spring system is your next line of defense for support. Zig zag sinuous and drop in coil springs are two of the more common methods used in value-engineered furniture. They will feel comfortable and give you good bounce in the showroom, but break down after just a few years. Our sofas are crafted using double-cone, machine-tied, soft seating system coil springs (say that 5 times fast) to provide decades of comfort. Just like the foam, the spring system is backed by a lifetime warranty.
Last, take a look at the frame. A poorly-made piece of furniture will be made with particle or chip board that will last about as long as it sounds like it would. You want to look for kiln dried hardwood that is free from knots. Knots are weaknesses in the wood that could crack or break with time.
The Price
Our sofas range from $4500+ and chairs are typically $2000+ which, when you are purchasing one piece of furniture to last 20+ years is buying once to buy well. It can feel like a large investment up front but if you are having to replace your $2,000 sofa every 3-5 years, you’re spending more in the long run. We started carrying this line because we stand behind it and wanted to bring an offering to you that we know you will love for years to come.
